AOPC was founded in 1994 by Gregory M. Straub, a Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist, and Andrew Adkisson, an Orthotic/Prosthetic Technician. Two years later, they founded a second center in Charlotte, NC, with M. Steven Hagler as the third co owner. Both centers are privately held businesses that have collectively created over 19 jobs in North Carolina. Our Charlotte and Asheville offices each have in-house fabrication laboratories with talented technical staff members. All are committed to providing cost effective, appropriate devices and excellent service.
Andrew C. Adkisson, Vice President and Lab Manager
As Vice President of AOPC, Andrew brings over 15 years of experience in the field of orthotics and prosthetics. He appreciates the fusion of art and technology that working with orthotics and prosthetics gives him.
Since 1997, he has been visiting Germany every other year to gain the latest in orthotic and prosthetic technologies. Over the years, he has brought German technicians to North Carolina to share experience and knowledge, and he is responsible for bringing prepreg to AOPC and introducing the first custom prepreg course in North Carolina.
Andrew enjoys the challenge of working on special cases that other practices or individuals decline. In his spare time (believe it or not, he does have some!), he enjoys backpacking and mountain biking in the various beautiful areas of Western North Carolina.
M. Steve Hagler, CO - Certified Orthotist and Secretary
Our goal is to provide well fitting artificial limbs and orthopedic braces to help those in need of our services. Through a combination of art, science, effort and compassion, we have dramatically improved the lives of thousands of people. We have the highest level of certification in our industry, and we pursue Continuing Education opportunities annually. Our four clinicians each have an average of twenty years of experience.
Because we have limited the size of our practices and staffed our centers with talented and caring professionals, we can offer personalized services. Our patients come to our office through referrals by doctors, therapist, families and friends. Physician prescriptions are required for most devices. Medicare assignment and most other private insurances are usually accepted.
